Gordita's anyone?

So, I know it's been a while since I posted a blog, because I am sure most of you don't want to hear about fundraising and grant writing all the time, but let me fill you in on a couple things. First, did you see the end to the Broncos game yesterday? I told you God was a Bronco fan. (see back a few blogs). They got so lucky, but at the end of the day, it still goes in the win column.

Second, I know many of the readers of this blog are far away, but we encourage you to support our gordita fundraiser on October 4th. We are selling bulk packs of gorditas, rice, beans, and salsa to go for your Sunday afternoon dinner. If you chose to purchase some meals, and would not be able to enjoy them, due to the distance factor, we would make sure that hungry families in the area had a nice meal from you. :) Also, there are some challenge levels to the event, if we raise $3000, I will shave my head. If we raise $5000, pastor Heimer will dye his hair blue, if we raise $7000, pastor Astorga will paint his skin green and dress up as Shrek, and if we raise $10,000, Erin might shave her head. I am still trying to get her to go for that, but we will see. Please consider helping a hungry family with a hot meal, and helping our Mission with much needed funds.

The past week, we spent much of our time sending out letters hoping to get groups who love our mission to "adopt" mission sites in Juarez. So much need over there, and so few people helping out. People really need Jesus over there, and we are sure doing our best to bring Him to them. Also, sending out letters to recruit new groups. We have the facilities to host a group any week of the year, yet the dorms sit empty, and the vans stay parked for many weeks of the year. If you can think of anyone who may want to bring a group here, especially in the offseason (not summer or spring break), please ask them to contact Erin at service@ylm.org or send one of us their contact information.

Lastly, for this blog, below is a picture of Viviana and I.... She is not my daughter, but she belongs to Elvira and Jorge. I have adopted her as my psuedo niece, and a couple times, I have told Elvira to "reglamela" which means, gift her to me, and she said ok. I don't think she is serious though. However, I have been asked to stand as her godfather, and Erin as her godmother, so that is a great honor for me.

Have a great week, keep rooting for the Rockies to even win the division and make it back to the World Series. Talk to you soon.
